Elon Reeve Musk, born on June 28, 1971, is an entrepreneur and investor. He holds the title of the world's wealthiest individual, boasting an estimated net worth of $222 billion as of December 2023.

Born in Pretoria into the affluent Musk family of South Africa, Elon briefly attended the University of Pretoria before relocating to Canada at 18, securing citizenship through his Canadian-born mother. He enrolled at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania, earning bachelor's degrees in economics and physics. His journey led him to California to join Stanford University in 1995, yet he withdrew after just two days. Together with his brother Kimbal, he co-founded Zip2, an online city guide software company acquired by Compaq for $307 million in 1999. That same year, Musk co-founded X.com, later merging it with Confinity to create PayPal.
